Ordinances And Regulations Relating To The Three Year Degree of Bachelor of Social Work (B. S. W.)

 

Eligibility For Admission :

i)

Every candidate for being eligible for admission to the three year degree course leading to the Bachelor of Social Work (B. S. W.) must have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination (standard XII) conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, or an equivalent examination of any other Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, recognized by the Shivaji University.

ii)

The Course of study for the degree of Bachelor of Social Work (B. S. W.) shall be a full-time course and its duration shall extend over a period of three academic years.

iii)

The total number of admission in a batch should not exceed 50 (fifty) for the B. S. W. - 1.

iv)

The examination for the degree of Bachelor of Social Work shall be held in three parts Viz. Part I at the end of the first year, Part II at the end of the second year and Part III at the end of the third year.

v)

A candidate who is declared to have passed the Part II or Part III examination will not allowed to reappear for the same examination with a view to improving the results.

vi)

The degree of Bachelor of Social Work (B S W) shall not be conferred upon a candidate unless the candidate has passed in all the papers and in Social Work practicum prescribed for the Part I, Part II and Part III examinations in accordance with the provision of Regulation.

vii)

Candidate being eligible for admission to the B S W Part I, Part II and Part III examination should have :
 

a)

At least 80% attendance in the lecture classes in each subject in each  year.

b)

Stipulated attendance in social work practicum.

c)

Satisfactory performance.

d)

Satisfactory conduct.

viii)

The external examination shall cover the entire syllabus prescribed for the respective papers and a paper carrying 60 marks for the external examination shall be of two hours and forty minutes duration.

Social Work practicum shall be certified by the Head of the Institution concerned and the marks for social work practicum shall be communicated to the Registrar of the University by Head of the Institution not later than one month after the close of the academic year, in respect of candidates admitted to the examination.

ix)

a)

Candidates will be required to attend any one of the Remedial Language course,  namely English or Marathi and a course on Computer Fundamentals in the first  two years offered by the college. The admission committee of the college will  identity candidates who will be so required to attend the remedial course on the  basis of the admission test. There will not any University Examination in remedial  language course and the computer course. However, there will be an internal  assessment for these courses and the candidates will be required to obtain a  minimum of 40% of full marks in the courses which they attend. Those who fail  to obtain the minimum marks will not be permitted to appear for the University  Examination. Candidates admitted to these courses shall be required to have a  minimum of 75% attendance.

b)

However a candidate who has obtained 50% or more the full marks in field work  will have to claim exemption in field work. If a candidate fails infield work, he /  she will be required to repeat the same and obtain the minimum marks required  i.e. 50% before he / she allowed to keep terms for Part II of the course. A  candidate repeating field work only, in this manner will also have a register for  the examination as in the case of candidate reappearing in other subjects.

 

General Instructions :

Candidate are admitted to the course subject to the University Rules as to eligibility and grant of terms etc.

Every candidate must attend the classes regularly and complete his class work, tutorials and seminars, assignments and periodic tests including surprises tests as may be required from time to time.

Candidate should carefully read before being admitted, the prospectus issued by the Institute as well as the relevant University Pamphlets and regulations of the course selected by them. The rules contained in them as well as the rules those may be made from time to time and put up on the Notice Board are binding on the candidate and their guardians.

The fees prescribed for the course must be paid at the time of admission. Failure to do so shall result in cancellation of admission.

If a candidate is entitled to any Government Scholarship or free ship, the amount of such scholarship or free ship will be paid to him / her when it is actually received.

For grant of the two terms and for eligibility to fill in the university examination form of the course, all candidate must attend at least 80% of the lectures for the course.

No candidate shall be considered to have pursued the regular course of study unless he / she is certified by the Principal to have attended at least 80% of the classes and all tutorials and seminars.

Candidate will be exposed to the business executives and experts in the field through regular seminars and guest lectures attendance for the same will be compulsory.

A very high standard of discipline, regularity and punctuality is expected of the candidates. Failure of which will be viewed seriously in judging their performance.

10

No candidate shall be allowed to appear for the University Examination unless he / she satisfies all the rules and regulations those may be made from time to time.

11

Fees are not refundable on any account except the deposit amounts for Library and caution. Whenever admission of a candidate is to be cancelled by him / her, the candidate should intimate to the Principal, in writing, with the written consent of his / her guardian before beginning of the term.
